Luckily, we’re spoiled for choice with 44 of them scattered across the city, so there’s bound to be one close to you. Moreover, admission prices are fixed no matter which pool you choose – $17 for adults on weekdays and $19 on weekends and public holidays. Children under 3 years old enter for free.
But don’t worry if you can’t afford to splash out on a swim-pass: there are also plenty of cheaper options for those without much disposable income. These cheap HK pools offer a range of fun activities, from water slides to splashing around in the waves. Plus, many have a great kids’ area and are the perfect place to bring your little ones along for a refreshing summer swim.
In fact, a recent survey found that more than half of Hong Kong families use public pools to keep their kids cool during the summer. The Jordan Valley pool is a fab kid-friendly option for toddlers and preschoolers with an area specifically designed for them, as well as a teaching pool and a leisure pool. There are also fun features like a floating mini aquatic animals, water-squirting dolphins and sharks, baby slides and a dancing fountain. And, as a bonus, it’s a short walk from Wai Man Road MTR station.
Aside from offering a range of water sports, this pool also has an indoor section that’s perfect for those who want to escape the harsh Hong Kong summer sun. The indoor pools are air-conditioned and have their own changing rooms, as well as lockers for visitors. Moreover, there’s a snack bar where you can purchase drinks and snacks to fuel up between swims. And, what’s more, the whole complex is surrounded by a lush green garden. The Ngau Chi Wan pool is about a 10 minute walk from Diamond Hill and Choi Hung MTR stations, both on the green Kwun Tong line. And if you don’t feel like walking, there are numerous buses that stop nearby. So, why not give it a go? You can’t beat the price, and you’re guaranteed a fun and relaxing experience.
